Elias Whittaker and brother Simon probably born in Moriah, Essex, NY. To Alanson Whittaker and Prudence. Prudence’s surname maybe Hodges, needs research.
Alanson Whittaker researchers here and here and here indicate that Alanson is probably the brother of Sylvanus, Rodman, and Clark Whittaker. Elias mother could be Lydia Harris
George Furniss (24) may have come into NY in 1834 with William (28) and Mary Anne (25) . William and George are listed as millers in the immigration document. Mary Anne is new wife, Mary Anne Knott see attached immigration and marriage records for William Furniss. Profession matches 1870 US Census for George Furness - miller. This William seems to be the subject of many entries in the volume History of St Lawrence County. Ancestry Tree lists a William and Mary Anne in St Lawrence County from England with parents George Furniss born November 1781 death 1836 and mother Ann Wilcock born 21 September 1778 death 10 June 1840. George Furniss grandfather of Millie references a sister name Arabella Bowler and her daughters Susie and May (Mary) Bowler. Check William’s will in NY records Vol 12- page 117. Image 91 &92.
Additionally both have daughter’s named Lucy A Furniss. Will for William Furniss was jackpot, references the same sister as George Furniss mentions in his will, Arabella Bowler from Roxbury MA, and sister Lucy C Furniss of Parishville, wife of George Furniss. Will also named a brother John Furniss in the county. Another immigration record with Arabella, George, William and Alcock’s
Furniss family in Nottingham researchers
Researching on the assumption that George may have come to America with family based on the immigration record, I also looked in the census records n St Lawrence County and found many people named Furness born in England who are the correct age to be George’s siblings. Also found a sketch biography of an Anthony Furness in the History of St Lawrence County that says he was born in Westmoreland, England. Another source mentions that Anthony Furness is a stonemason, similar occupation to
George Furness (Millie Lucy’s grandfather) looks to be in Parishville in 1840 Census then absent until 1870 when he is then listed as living with wife Lucy. He must have been with Lucy through the 1840’s because their four children are born then. George Furness isn’t just absent, Lucy isn’t living in a household by herself, she is living with her parents in 1850 and 1860.

1870 Simon Whittaker (31) and Elias Whittaker (29) Simon married and both Simon and brother Elias are Millers by profession and shown adjacent on census sheet to the Cook family.
Cook family consists of Cyrus (74) and Eliza (73) with Millie Furness (21) Cooks are probably Millie’s grandparents.. Millie, recorded in the 1970 US Census, is almost certainly the same person found in the 1850 (age 1) and 1860 (Age 11) Census living with Cyrus and Eliza Cook, but is called Lucy Furness in those earlier census records. In these earlier census records Lucy Furness is living with the Cooks and what looks to be a Furness family, with mother Lucy Furness age 28 in 1850 and siblings George, Elizabeth and Maria.
Mille Furness is likely Lucy Furness who marries neighbor Elias Whittaker and is the mother of Millie Lucy Whittaker.
Millie is also most probably the daughter of Lucy and George Furness who are living in another household in Parishville in the 1870 Census. George is listed as a Miller
1880 Elias Whittaker widowed and a lumberman with infant Mille Lucy Furness Whittaker (0) recorded as his daughter
